At Illumify Home, we believe that great lighting should be efficient, affordable, and designed to serve the people who use it every day. That’s why we’re proud to share the results of a recent project that transformed a 20,000 sq. ft. nonprofit facility in Tucker, GA through our Commercial Energy Efficiency Lighting Program.
Whether you’re running a church, school, community center, or warehouse, this case study shows what’s possible when strategic design meets utility rebates — and how you can do the same.
📍 Project Overview
This nonprofit had been operating for over 30 years with an aging fluorescent lighting system. Their goal was to reduce utility expenses and upgrade to more reliable, energy-efficient lighting — all within a limited budget. As a Georgia Power commercial customer, they were also eligible for rebates that could significantly reduce their upgrade cost.
⚠️ Key Challenges
- Outdated Fixtures: Hundreds of 2×4 troffers with T12 fluorescent tubes were still in use, which consumed excessive power.
- Inconsistent Past Upgrades: DIY retrofits with canless downlights caused uneven lighting and frequent failures.
- Maintenance Headaches: Flickering lights and early failures from prior upgrades increased maintenance costs and disrupted operations.
- Budget Constraints: Like many nonprofits, they needed a high-impact, low-cost solution.
✅ Illumify Home’s Approach
We provided a complete, turnkey solution through our Energy Efficiency Lighting Program, which included:
🔍 1. Free Energy Survey & Site Analysis
We conducted a full walkthrough and photometric lighting analysis to understand the existing conditions and opportunities.
🛠 2. Optimized Lighting Design
Using 3D simulations, we redesigned the lighting layout to meet industry standards while minimizing fixture counts and maximizing coverage.
💡 3. Product Selection
We replaced 280 fluorescent fixtures with high-efficiency LED panel lights, maintaining a 1-to-1 replacement to avoid unnecessary rewiring costs.
🤝 4. Collaborative Installation
The installation was managed by Illumify Home and carried out by the nonprofit’s maintenance team and volunteers — a great example of partnership in action.
💰 Project Cost & Savings
Total Cost | Rebate from Georgia Power | Final Net Cost |
---|---|---|
$13,000 | $7,459 | $5,541 |
