Engineering Lighting Systems That Perform
A PE- and LC-led lighting design firm that owns lighting from design intent to built reality.
Lighting Design Is an Engineering Discipline
Illumify was founded to bring manufacturing-side engineering and code discipline into the design and construction process — where lighting decisions directly affect performance, compliance, and experience.
We design lighting as a coordinated system, not a collection of fixtures. Through a structured, multi-phase process, we balance architectural intent, photometric performance, code requirements, and constructability from concept through commissioning.
By validating lighting digitally and coordinating documentation early, we control glare, reduce RFIs, prevent late-stage substitutions, and protect schedules.
Lighting that performs is engineered, verified, and coordinated.
Built for the Teams That Carry the Risk
Lighting performance, validated before construction begins.
Architects protecting a specification through value engineering. Interior designers who own the finish but need the photometric and control scope handled. Builders and owner’s representatives who answer for the result at move-in. Illumify is the PE-led technical partner that keeps lighting intent intact from drawing through commissioning — visually, technically, and operationally — so the outcome surprises no one.
Where Engineering Discipline Meets Design Intent
An engineer who mastered lighting from the manufacturing floor out — not a designer who picked up engineering.
Jared Jin, P.E., LC, MBA — Principal of Illumify. A licensed Professional Engineer in the electrical power discipline and an NCQLP Lighting Certified professional, both held since 2018, with over a decade engineering luminaires, drivers, and controls on the manufacturing side of the industry. He is an active member of the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers (GSPE), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD).
His path ran from the manufacturing bench to the job site. At Peerless he watched his own fixtures misapplied in the field — the first exposure to the gap between engineering intent and built reality. At Acuity Brands R&D he engineered LEDs, drivers, controls, and smart lighting across commercial and high-end residential product lines. That experience shaped Illumify’s core philosophy: lighting is not a product category — it is a performance system that must survive design development, value engineering, inspection, and construction.
That decade also revealed a structural gap in how lighting gets delivered: the point where a finished design meets construction reality — substitutions, field conditions, schedule pressure — often has no single party accountable for protecting the original intent. Illumify was founded to be that party.
Jared holds dual master’s degrees in engineering — Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering, plus an MBA, bringing technical depth, energy-systems fluency, and execution discipline to every project. Today he works closely with architects, interior designers, builders, and general contractors to translate design intent into lighting systems that are code-defensible, constructible, and predictable in the field.
That same philosophy shaped the Illumify Design Lab & Experience Center in Norcross, GA — a working environment where lighting systems, control platforms, and finishes are tested and demonstrated before they’re specified, so design decisions are validated before they reach the field.
From design intent to built reality.
