Lighting is shaped by many decisions, made by different people at different stages of a project. The finished room depends on someone carrying its intent through all of them — a role some projects fill and many leave open.
Where that role is open, we fill it. Where someone already holds it, we add capacity at the checkpoints where intent is most often lost.
We design lighting as a coordinated system, not a collection of fixtures. Through a structured, five-phase process, we balance architectural intent, photometric performance, code requirements, and constructability from concept through commissioning.
By modeling lighting early, testing key decisions on real finishes in our Lab, and reviewing substitutions before they’re accepted, we control glare, reduce RFIs, and protect schedules.

Where Engineering Discipline Meets Design Intent
An engineer who learned lighting from inside the product — not a designer who picked up engineering.
Jared Jin, P.E., LC, MBA — Founder and Principal of Illumify. A licensed Professional Engineer in the electrical power discipline and an NCQLP Lighting Certified professional, both held since 2018, with a decade in lighting product engineering — luminaires, drivers, and controls. He is an active member of the Georgia Society of Professional Engineers (GSPE), the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD).
His path ran from the engineering bench to the job site. At Peerless Lighting he watched his own fixtures misapplied in the field — his first view of the gap between engineering intent and built reality. At Acuity Brands R&D he engineered LEDs, drivers, controls, and sensors across commercial and residential product lines, and later designed residential and smart lighting products for the Juno and Lithonia brands. That experience shaped Illumify’s core philosophy: lighting is not a product category — it is a performance system that has to survive design development, value engineering, inspection, and construction.
That decade also showed him a structural gap in how lighting gets delivered: when a finished design meets construction — substitutions, field conditions, schedule pressure — often no one is assigned to carry the original intent. Illumify was founded to carry it.
Jared holds master’s degrees in Mechatronics Engineering (DongHua University, with focus on industrial automation) and Electrical Engineering (Arizona State University, with research in energy systems), plus an MBA (Emory University). As an Atlanta lighting designer and engineer, he works with architects, interior designers, MEP engineers, builders, and general contractors to turn design intent into lighting that is code-defensible, constructible, and predictable in the field.
That same philosophy shaped the Illumify Design Lab & Experience Center in Norcross — a working environment where lighting systems, control platforms, and finishes are tested and compared before they’re specified, so decisions are settled before they reach the field.
